An open and spacious site near the lake. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Shop had limited stock. Restaurant menu was basic and quite expensive.

Lange veranda area with a good amount of space around the lodge. The lodge contained everything needed for a comfortable week.

The friendly staff, the food in the restaurant and takeaway is excellent and the peaceful environment.

Accommodation review
Having a dishwasher was lovely, the view and space around the accommodation.
The sofa was not very comfy. The windows in the twin bedrooms could not be opened onto a tilt like in the master bedroom. Outside chairs as well as the wooden benches would be good, although the weather was not for sitting outside this week. A tv would have been a nice option to have.

After we said we couldn't stay in the Gite we were quickly moved to a Premium chalet which was excellent. Had to give a mark of 1 for accommodation as there was no zero. It would have been zero for the Gite and ten for the chalet
The Gite, Baker's oven our original accommodation, was cold in the living area, uncomfortable and the floor mats by the entrance door were filthy and needed replacing.

We spent 6 nights at the site and enjoyed the peace and tranquility of being by the lake. All the staff were approachable and helpful and the site is managed with a respect for the environment. The restaurant was very good value and the pool and facilities kept at an excellent condition regardless of the time of day.

We booked four nights for our camping holidays in France Found the site nice and calm, spacious pits, and lots of families having time together.
Refill of soap, toiletpaper etc was inadequate. Toilet paper on three out of six is not a problem when you remember to check before going. Filling hand soap only half to let it run empty again within a day is not an option.

What a simply beautiful and peaceful site . The owner a charming lady that has by the looks of it spent many many years perfecting the design and running of this wonderful site regularly charging around on her golf buggy charming her quests , the staff are all very friendly eager to please and want you to have a wonderful stay giving you a full and proper overview of where everything is and what is on etc etc .We have stayed in many les castles sites over the years but none that has had this total feel of tranquility and friendliness .booked for 3 nights ended up 6 did not want to leave
May consider eco matting on the grass pitches to help in wetter weather , but other than that this lady has this site just about perfect for what we like .

Great place to stay - peaceful, picturesque and would go back again. Wonderful friendly and helpful staff, food in the restaurant is excellent as was the take away food in terms of good quality and value. The pool was good too and needed given the extremely hot weather as was the lake that you can walk around, canoe on or fish in.
Only minor niggle is the footpath up to the pool after the foot wash - you can easily burn your bare feet in paving’s in hot weather following the rules ie no shoes allowed on pool area. We took our shoes through and used them as did most fellow guests.

Very nice site, clean and quiet. The staff are very kind and generous in their help with speaking English as we don't have a good grasp on the French language. Such a nice site that we booked for an extra night. The owner is very nice and we would not hesitate to visit again if we were travelling in France again.

For a stay out of the main season you can sometimes think you are an afterthought while the site comes to life. Nothing could be further from our experience at Poinsouze. Nothing was too much trouble, the site was fully open and spotless. We cannot wait to visit again.

Absolutely stunning campsite. We had a lakeside pitch which was huge (44). The pool area was perfect for families and our children age 3 and 9 loved the slide and splash park area. The parks were great and our kids also loved the trampoline and bouncy castle. We ate at the restaurant one evening and the food was delicious. There was take away available every night which we also had. That was also very tasty. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this site and we will definitely return.
Nothing really but if I had to say 1 thing it would be for the shop to be open longer and to stock a bit more.

We liked the look of the place and the fact that it wasn't densely packed with pitches and accommodation.
It feels like style over substance. I've never known a site in high season (4 stars) not have a café or bar open all day for snacks, lunch, ice creams and drinks. There's so much more the site could be doing. But it's just doing the minimum. The choices for teens is non-existent, probably better aimed at young children. The shop has very few items and considering the restaurant isn't open every night and the takeaway doesn't have a lot of variation, I would expect them to sell more. There aren't many places in the nearby town to buy things either.

It’s a beautiful location, the staff made us feel so welcomed. Sarah was very patient with us making sure we had the right pitch to suit our needs. This site is absolutely stunning, we had a lakeside pitch (100) which was well worth paying the extra for. You wake up to the birds and go to bed to the ducks and crickets! The site is extremely well laid out, very clean and the facilities are great. You can order bread and pastries for the next day at reception. The restaurant on site is worth a visit too, the food is delicious and the waiter is lovely. You can cycle into Boussac which is worth a visit especially on market day. Overall this was an exceptional find.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Poinsouze - very helpful and welcoming staff, great pool and playground facilities for the kids, the lake was small but fun for casual paddleboarding (we brought boards with us but could have hired water craft) Fresh bread from the shop every morning, and the site was very safe for our older son to go about all over by himself. Our toddler was very busy as well! The animations were great for our 10yo
Because lots of campers only stayed one or two nights en route to somewhere else, the kids making friends was inconsistent. Luckily there were a few other longer stay families at the same time as us.

Fantastic large pitch, plenty of space for our 8-man tent, awning, washing line, badminton and other outdoor games! Tree cover at one end of the pitch meant shade was available whenever we needed it, and the hedges demarked the edge of our pitch pleasantly.
One of the trees dropped Many acorns on the pitch so quite painful underfoot! Not a lot to be done about it but slip on shoes were necessary!

Well organised. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Excellent restaurent and take away. The meal and concert was a highlight.
Would have been nice to be able to swim in the lake. This is not a dislike, but rather a suggestion, you could provide a range of walks and cycle rides information at reception. I'd be happy to hep with this!

Top marks to the staff, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Didn't manage to get to the restaurant, but the take away meals were top quality. Have booked to return late in the season and looking forward to another peaceful three nights in lovely surroundings.
Not a really a dislike, but the WiFi was a bit patchy where we were sited.

Lovely pool with slide, and space on the grass around the pool on the odd occasion that sunloungers were full. Staff were lovely and friendly. Beautiful views. Nice bar area. Lovely touch to do the animal feeding every day.
Would have preferred: Pizza take away, heated pool, restaurant open every day with pizza and pasta, larger shop, an indoor space to go when it rains eg if the bar was open in the day to play board games.

We especially love the beauty of this site and how peaceful it feels. We are a senior couple and we stayed here in our caravan. It is our second stay here and we will certainly book here again. The pitches are generously sized and the layout of the site has been thoughtfully designed. Everything is very well maintained and the sanitary block is spotless. Lovely view across the lake. The owners and the workers are all very pleasant.and accommodating. Stayed for 5 nights and found it a very relaxing stay. The pool is lovely with a nice view. The water slide was great fun. Had two meals in the restaurant and must say the Chef really knows what he's doing using fresh produce,full marks to him and the team. The owners & staff were all very friendly & helpful making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived & throughout our stay. The on site restaurant served excellent meals. There is a lovely outdoor pool complex. The site is set in a wonderful natural location overlooking a magnificent lake & was so peaceful with plenty of entertaining wildlife. We had a small issue with our motorhome & was helped to address the problem on site - that was service above and beyond… This site deserves to do well & we hope to return again soon & will be recommending it to our motorhoming friends.

We travelled out of season, with a tent. We booked the Castel Suite Premium pitch. The photos on the campsite website don’t go anywhere near showing how brilliant the private facilities are - outdoor kitchen area, covered dining area, good sized undercounter fridge, private shower & WC, outdoor washing up area. Huge pitch overlooking the lake. Very good value for money. Bar & restaurant good & popular. Pool area pretty & impressive. Wonderful personal welcome by the always helpful site owner. Lovely & quiet, we will definitely book again & we rarely go to the same place twice!
Although there are many lovely walks in the area, the site is secluded & there isn’t anywhere to walk to as such. There is a decent supermarket about 5 - 10 minutes drive away but the area itself, although lovely, is remote & quiet. That was a bonus for us but perhaps won’t be to everyone’s liking.
